Biography

Alice Luo is an emerging artist and educator located in Long Island, New York. She received her Bachelors at Stony Brook University where she double majored in studio art and biology. Her studio art concentration was in drawing and printmaking, so she has experience with a wide variety of printmaking techniques including dry point, linoleum, woodblock, lithography, and intaglio. She also took different sculptural ceramics courses in college where she fell in love with the versatility, the endless possibilities of finishes, and the dynamic forms it can take on. She later on became a teaching assistant for the class, and learned how to operate and maintain a kiln and the science behind glaze making.

Professionally, Alice is currently working as a ceramics teacher at Studio E located in Rocky Point. She teaches classes in hand building and pottery to all different abilities and ages. Through this position, she has discovered her passion for teaching and helping others. She plans on going back to school and getting a Masters of Fine Arts degree so she can teach at the college level.
